Samuel was only around 21 years at the time and had just finished his apprenticeship as a 'Tinplate worker' (7 years)!! I found his release on Ancestry. Elizabeth was previously married to Joseph Barnes who was probably the 'Inn holder' before. Samuel Kynaston married widow Elizabeth Barnes in 1750 and became the 'Inn holder' as they were termed at the time it seems. I have found at least one earlier 'Inn holder' for the Saracens Head Aldgate during my research for ancestors: Saracens Head Inn Sign, 4 Aldgate, EC3 - September 2009ġ683/ John Game/./././London Gazette, 12 July 1683 **ġ707/ Robert Beddal/./././Proceedings of the Old Bailey ** Saracens Head Inn, 5 Aldgate, EC3 - an old coaching inn which closed in the 1860's In 18 the Saracens Head was in the parish of St Katherine Cree ** The old coaching inn closed in around 1867 or 1868.
